Wednesday afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars learned wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker will miss the remainder of the 2011 season due to a knee injury he suffered on Sunday, Nov. 30, against the Houston Texans; the team has yet to disclose the nature of the injury.

But Sims-Walker is on the path to recovery. "Knee surgery on tuesday," the four-year veteran wrote on his Twitter account early Thursday afternoon. "seems like everything that could've went wrong dis year went wrong, but gotta play the cards I was dealt......"

The Jaguars signed the UCF product after the St. Louis Rams cut him in October. The Rams, who signed him as a free agent over the summer, removed him from the active roster for his last game with the team. In four games, Sims-Walker caught 11 passes for 139 yards and no touchdowns.

In his return to Jacksonville--he spent the first three seasons of his career there--he fared even worse, catching one pass for 11 yards in two games. Just two years after catching 63 passes, his NFL career is certainly in jeopardy if he's unable to recover quickly from his surgery.

The Jaguars signed Cleveland Browns castoff Brian Robiskie to take Sims-Walker's place on the active roster. In 31 career games, the 36th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft has 39 catches for 441 yards and three touchdowns. Though middling at best, he's the best the Jaguars could get cheaply, and they desperately need the help: rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert has completed just 45.7 percent of his passes. As a result, the Jaguars rank No.32--dead last--in the NFL in passing yards (989), as well as No. 31 in passing touchdowns (five) and attempts (218).

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker for the season with a knee injury and claimed wide receiver Brian Robiskie off of waivers.

In surprising news, the Jacksonville Jaguars have placed wide receiver Mike Sims-Walker on injured reserve with a knee injury. The team announced the move earlier today. It's unknown when Sims-Walker injured his knee, but it had to have been on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Sims-Walker played in the game after dealing with the flu during the week and Jaguars head coach noted Sims-Walker was effected in the game, lacking energy. Sims-Walker missed practice this week apparently due to having a tooth pulled.

With Sims-Walker being placed on injured reserve, it opens up a roster spot for former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Brian Robiskie, who was waived by the team yesterday. The Jaguars receiving group has been abysmal this season and it seems the team is desperate to get help from anywhere. During the season, the Jaguars have signed two players that were released from their team mid-season and teams that were hurting at the receiver position.
