Atlanta starting pitcher Brandon Beachy had it all working on Thursday night as the Braves shutout out the Marlins 7-0 to take game 2 of their quick series. Beachy allowed just five hits, striking out six and walking nine for the complete game shutout. They rarely put together any kind of threat against the Braves, with just one extra-base hit, a double by Giancarlo Stanton.

Marlins' starter Ricky Nolasco, on the other hand, scuffled through four innings of work. He allowed four runs on seven hits, and the Braves struck early to chase him quickly. It wasn't much better for Chad Gaudin either, as the Fish reliever coughed up three runs right away to put the game out of reach in the 5th inning. Aside from a Fredi Freeman solo shot, the Braves did much of their damage with station-to-station baseball, scoring their final four runs on singles.

The Marlins now head north to Cleveland to start interleague play against the Indians. Carlos Zambrano will face Justin Masterson in game 1 on Friday night.

The Miami Marlins have been on an impressive road trip, which has helped them improve from a rather lackluster April. They are currently 12-3 in May thanks to the offense, averaging 4.7 runs per game and batting .255 compared to averaging 3.3 runs and batting .228 in April.

Marlins pitcher Ricky Nolasco is scheduled to start for Miami on Thursday night. In his last start against the New York Mets on May 12, Nolasco went four and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs and nine hits for his first loss of the season, dropping him to 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA.

The Braves counter with pitcher Brandon Beachy, also with a 4-1 record on the season with an ERA of 1.60. In his last start on May 12 against the St. Louis Cardinals, Beachy went six innings allowing only one run on two hits in a Braves victory.

The Marlins hope that the offensive production from players like Giancarlo Stanton who hit a two-run home run on Wednesday. Both Austin Kearns and Emilio Bonafacio each drove in a pair of runs to help the Marlins win 8-4.

The game is scheduled for a 7:10 first pitch from Turner Field in Atlanta. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Florida with radio coverage provided by WAXY 790 AM and WAQI 710 AM.

The Miami Marlins traveled to Atlanta to take on the Braves in a two-game series. The Braves jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, but Miami quickly poured on the runs after that. Austin Kearns double to left center in the fourth inning, playing two runs to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead. Kearns later scored in the inning on a Emilio Bonifacio single.

The Marlins weren't done with just a 3-1 lead however, as they added three more runs in the fifth inning and then two more runs on a Giancarlo Stanton home run in the seventh inning to give the Marlins an 8-4 lead, which was good enough to take the first game of the series.

The Miami Marlins start a two-game series with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday for a chance to shake up the standings in the volatile National League East.

The Miami Marlins take a quick hop to the north for a quick National League East battle with the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. This two-game, mid-week series could have implications on a tightly packed early season race in the division. Atlanta currently leads, with Miami behind by three and half games.

Marlins' lefty Mark Buehrle will be looking for his third consecutive quality start in his first appearance of the season against the Braves. He is two games removed from a complete game win over the Padres, and a two-run effort through nearly seven innings against the Mets last week. Buehrle has won both of his previous career starts against Atlanta.

On the bump for the Braves is Mike Minor. The Braves' left-hander has allowed 21 earned runs in his last three starts. Opposing batters have taken him deep seven times through that same stretch. In three career starts against the Marlins, Minor has allowed 11 earned runs with a 6.46 ERA.

The game starts at 7:10 p.m. and can be seen locally on Fox Sports Florida.
