The Miami Marlins won their second straight game on Thursday, preserving a series split against the Milwaukee Brewers with a 4-0 victory at Miller Park, thanks to a solid performance by Mark Buehrle on the mound. The Marlins' starter went 7.2 innings with eight strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs before he left the game.

Brewers starter Michael Fiers turned in a solid performance, but wasn't given any help by his offense or his bullpen. He went 7.1 innings with two earned runs. The first came in the 4th inning, when Logan Morrison drove in Carlos Lee with a single, and the second came on a fielder's choice in the 8th.

Jose Veras pitched in the top of the 9th for the Brewers, and killed his team's chances of a comeback when he gave up a two-run home run to pinch hitter Greg Dobbs. The Brewers couldn't get anything going in the bottom of the inning, as Heath Bell preserved the shutout for the Marlins.

With a win in extra innings on Wednesday, the Marlins snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Brewers and inched a game closer to .500 following a rough stretch in June. Now Miami will look for a winning streak of their own against Milwaukee when they try to win back to back games to split the series with Mark Buehrle looking for his third consecutive victory.

Buehrle has earned a decision in each of his last nine starts, but prior to his back to back wins to end June, he had a losing streak of four consecutive games. The streak dropped his record to 5-8, but with a third straight victory on Thursday he can salvage an even record once again.

To do so he'll have to try and slow an offense that has scored 25 combined runs in three games against the Marlins so far. He'll also have to out-pitch Michael Fiers who is coming off an impressive win against the Diamondbacks whom he held scoreless in six innings and allowed just two hits.

The first pitch on Thursday will be thrown at 2:10 p.m. at Miller Park and will be televised of Fox Sports Florida and Fox Sports Wisconsin.

The Miami Marlins looked as if they were on the verge of a blowout loss to the Milwaukee Brewers when the Brewers roughed up Josh Johnson and took an early 5-1 lead in the second inning. Johnson eventually settled down however and finished up a few more innings holding down the Brewers while the Marlins offense got things going.

Justin Ruggiano got the comeback going with a solo home run to left field in the seventh inning. Moments later Logan Morrison cracked a three-run home run to to center field to tie the game at 5-5. The Brewers took the lead again the very next inning, but in the top of the ninth inning Giancarlo Stanton went deep to tie in the game and send it into extra innings.

In extras, Hanley Ramirez knocked in the eventual game winning run on a single as the Marlins complete the rally and finally pick up a win in the series.

After two close losses to the Milwaukee Brewers in the first two games of their four game series, including a blown save by Heath Bell after a furious comeback by the Fish on Tuesday, the Brewers have jumped out to an early 5-1 lead over the Marlins.

Josh Johnson was roughed up in the second inning, giving up five runs. Johnson walked in the first run for the Brewers to the the game at one all, then gave up a single to Cesar Izturis to surrender the early lead. Milwaukee picked up three more runs in the inning, all on singles or ground outs, to come away with a big early lead.

For Miami to avoid their third loss in a row in the series, Johnson is going to need to settle in and hope the Marlins bats come alive.

The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers are heading into third game of a four-game series, and the Marlins are sending out Josh Johnson to pitch against the Brewers. Johnson will be looking for his sixth win this year. The Brewers are sending out Randy Wolf who has struggled this year with a 2-6 record and an ERA of 5.78.

The Marlins have had issues with the Brewers recently, and with Wolf taking the mound for the Brewers it should give them a good chance to break that slump.

Hanley Ramierz is back in the lineup after getting Tuesday night off, and he will be back at his normal spot at third base and will bat third. One other change is Austin Kearns is in right field and will bat sixth.

The Miami Marlins will try to get rid of the sour taste left over from Tuesday's 10th inning loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, a loss that voided an incredible comeback from a seven-run deficit. Miami dropped the first two games of the current series with Milwaukee, but can still salvage a split with wins on Wednesday and Thursday.

Right-hander Josh Johnson gets the call for Miami, and he gives them a fine chance of pulling out the win. In five outings against the Brewers, Johnson is 3-0 with a 3.06 ERA. Johnson has been pitching well lately, with a 1.87 ERA in his last five outings. However, he has a 2-2 record in those five starts thanks to poor run support from his teammates.

Miami managed to score 12 runs in Tuesday's disappointing loss, and they did so without Giancarlo Stanton and Hanley Ramirez who were nursing sore knees. It is unclear whether or not either player will be available on Wednesday.

The game starts at 4:10 p.m. Eastern. Fans can see the game on Fox Sports Florida.

For the second straight day, the Miami Marlins lost a heartbreaker against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Marlins offense exploded on Tuesday for 12 runs, overcoming an early seven-run deficit. Miami had a miraculous eighth inning, putting six runs on the board to tie things up at 11-11. Jose Reyes then launched a homer to right that put the Fish ahead by one in extra innings. But yet again, Heath Bell came on for Ozzie Guillen and promptly wasted the comeback effort. With two outs in the Brewers last at-bat, Bell gave up a two-run shot to Aramis Ramirez. It was a blast to straightaway center that sealed the 13-12 win and Miami's June woes have appeared to carry over to the month of July.

The Marlins lineup really spread the wealth around, with no one knocking in more than two runs. Logan Morrison led it all off with a two-run bomb in the top of the first, but the Brewers would pour it on against Anibal Sanchez and Chad Gaudin after that for nine unanswered runs. Justin Ruggiano, continuing his big series, John Buck, and Scott Cousins all went deep for Miami. The latter two were a key part of the huge eighth-inning rally. But it was all for naught as Bell, the eighth pitcher used by Guillen, blew the one-run lead.

Despite several opportunities to win in Monday's series opener, the Marlins lost their ninth consecutive game to the Brewers. They'll look to bounce back on Tuesday when Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to take the mound at Miller Park for the Marlins.

Sanchez earned his first victory in four weeks when he defeated the Cardinals with a seven inning outing, allowing three runs. He is scheduled to face Marco Estrada who has yet to earn a win after seven starts and 12 appearances in the 2012 season, but has earned three losses.

In Estrada's last appearance he struck out 12 batters in six innings, allowing three earned runs, but was unable to earn a decision as the Brewers fell to the Reds 4-3.

The game is scheduled for an 4:10 p.m. first pitch from Miller Park. Television coverage will be provided by Fox Sports Florida and Fox Sports Wisconsin.
