Jose Reyes and Carlos Lee hit back-to-back home runs in the ninth inning against the Dodgers as the Miami Marlins won 6-2 on Sunday to avoid the series sweep in Los Angeles. Miami hit home runs in consecutive innings when Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run in the fourth inning followed by a two-run shot by Rob Brantly in the fifth.

Los Angeles scored a run in the first inning on an Adrian Gonzalez RBI single, but didn't score again until the seventh when Andre Ethier hit an RBI single of his own. Miami's insurance run came in the eighth inning on fielding error by none other than Hanley Ramirez. Then of course there were the Reyes and Lee homers.

The Marlins have take a 3-1 lead over the Dodgers in the final game of their three-game series in Los Angeles. The Dodgers got it going early with an RBI single by Adrian Gonzalez, which scored Nick Punto to give them a 1-0 advantage.

Then Giancarlo Stanton hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to tie the score. Rob Brantly followed that up in the fifth inning with a two-run shot, to give the Marlins their 3-1 lead. Aside from giving up that single run in the first inning, Mark Buehrle had pitched well. In the fifth inning he found himself in a bases loaded situation, with one out and facing former Marlins star Hanley Ramirez. Ramirez popped up to shortstop Jose Reyes and Andre Ethier grounded out to end the inning, as Buehrle avoided the jam.

The Marlins were defeated by the Dodgers once again in Los Angeles on Saturday night, this time 8-2. The Dodgers put up 16 hits against the Marlins' pitching staff, while Miami recorded only three hits of its own.

Jose Reyes put the Marlins on the board in the first inning when he grounded out but scored Gorkys Hernandez to give Miami an early 1-0 lead. But that was before the Dodgers, stacked with talent after the blockbuster trade with the Red Sox, stepped to the plate.

Luis Cruz hit an RBI double before Adrian Gonzalez blasted a three-run homer in his first at-bat as a Dodger. Mark Ellis and Andre Eithier also homered in this game.

The only other run for the Marlins came on a solo shot by Giancarlo Stanton in the second inning.

The last-place Miami Marlins are coming off an 11-4 thumping at the hands of the suddenly loaded Los Angeles Dodgers and will send P Josh Johnson in an attempt to even the series Saturday night. The Dodgers counter with Clayton Kershaw and a potential slew of newcomers.

The Dodgers acquired well over $250 million in payroll from the Boston Red Sox early Saturday in the form of veterans Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett in exchange for James Loney and a bunch of prospects.

Miami (57-70) could be the first team to see the new-look Dodgers (68-58), who are three games behind the San Francisco Giants in the NL West and 1 1/2 behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Wild Card.

As the Los Angeles Dodgers' front office continued toward a blockbuster deal, the team on the field handled its business against the Miami Marlins Friday night in an 11-4 thrashing at home.

Miami starter and former Dodgers prospect Nate Eovaldi was beat up by his old team, especially by Andre Ethier, who went went 4-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Hanley Ramirez and Juan Rivera also went deep off the rookie, who gave up 6 earned in only 3 innings.

First baseman James Loney was pulled from the lineup in anticipation of a trade to Boston that would reportedly yield Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and other big names, potentially setting up the Dodgers (68-58) as the team to beat in the NL. They currently trail the Giants by three games in the NL West and the Cardinals by 1 1/2 games in the Wild Card.

However, the immediate future isn't as bright for the last-place Marlins (57-70), who took an early 2-0 lead on Jose Reyes' 10th homer in the first, a two-run shot off Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley. The Dodgers took a 3-2 lead in the bottom half on Ethier's three-run blast in the third after a Mark Ellis single and a Matt Kemp walk.

Miami tied it in the 2nd before Rivera's homer in the bottom half gave the Dodgers the lead for good. Los Angeles added two in the 3rd inning and five in the 7th.
