The Miami Marlins look to earn a split in the finale of a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon. The Marlins dropped games on Tuesday and Wednesday to the Brewers after winning the series opener.

Josh Johnson will take the mound for Miami. He is 7-11 with a 3.86 ERA on the season. The right-hander was strong in his last start against the New York Mets, going eight innings while giving up just one run on three hits with four strikeouts. He struggled in his outing against the Brewers this season, getting through just five innings while giving up five runs on July 4.

The Brewers counter with Marco Estrada. The right-hander is 2-5 with a 3.85 ERA in 24 appearances this season, 18 of those have been starts. Estrada performed well against the Pittsburgh Pirates five days ago, pitching seven innings of one-run ball. In his only start this season against the Marlins, coming on July 3, he went six innings, giving up two runs and striking out six.

First Pitch, TV schedule: 12:40 p.m. ET. The game will not be televised in Florida, but will be broadcast on Fox Sports Wisconsin.

The Miami Marlins lost to the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-5, on Wednesday night in the third game of a four-game set in Florida. Nathan Eovaldi took the loss for Miami, falling to 4-11 on the season.

The Brewers offense was all over Miami's pitching all night, taking starter Eovaldi for two runs, Tom Koehler for four more on a pair of home runs, and Ryan Webb for another two in the top of the ninth. Miami's offense wasn't silent, conjuring a four-run rally in the bottom of the seventh, but in light of the pitching, it wasn't much help.

John Buck, Jose Reyes, Greg Dobbs, Donovan Solano and Bryan Peterson each drove in runs for the Marlins. The offense went 4-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

The Miami Marlins are looking to get back on the winning side of things after they fell 8-4 to the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. The lineup for the Marlins will be a bit different on Wednesday as Justin Ruggiano is in center field after playing left field on Tuesday, Bryan Petersen is batting lead off and John Buck will be back behind the plate.

The Marlins will be sending out Nathan Eovaldi to pitch against the Brewers on Wednesday. Eovaldi has struggled most of the year and has a 4-10 record with an ERA of 4.48. He has not gone up against Milwaukee since he lost the decision on May 29. In his last six starts he has gone 2-4.

The Miami Marlins will host the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night for the third matchup in a four-game series.

The Marlins' woes continue, as they have lost five out of six games heading into Wednesday. The Brewers, meanwhile, are perhaps the hottest team in baseball, having won 12 of their last 15.

The Brewers' hot streak has been mostly fueled by Ryan Braun, who leads the National League in home runs (37) and RBI (98).

The Marlins will send Nathan Eovaldi to the hill, in search of his fourth win as a Marlin since coming to the team from Los Angeles in late July.

For the Brew Crew, Wily Peralta will make his first major league start.

Wednesday's game will begin at 7:10 PM ET, and can be found on FSFL.

The Marlins fell to the Brewers 8-4 on Tuesday in the second of the four-game series between the two teams. This evens the series at one game apiece.

Miami held a 4-3 lead after the fifth inning, but were unable to hang on. Brewers right fielder Norichika Aoki doubled to left center to score Nyjer Morgan, which tied the game, 4-4. Aoki had already homered earlier in the game to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead in the second inning.

Ryan Braun brought in Aoki for the go-ahead run in the seventh. Then in the eighth inning, Jeff Bianchi hit a three-run blast for good measure.

Both teams sent six pitchers to the mound on Tuesday night.

Wade LeBlanc gets a rare start for the Marlins. LeBlanc has bounced around as a relief pitcher and a starter. His start on Tuesday is his first since Aug. 22, where he pitched well by going seven innings and allowing only two runs, but got no help on offense and earned a loss.

Miami won the series opener on Monday afternoon, using a five-run fourth inning to power past the Brewers, 7-3.

Wade LeBlanc gets the start for Miami on Tuesday night, looking to improve on his 2-3 record. LeBlanc carries a 2.49 ERA and 1.23 WHIP into the Tuesday night start. LeBlanc has made five starts for the Marlins in 2012, and has pitched in 19 games, totaling 47 innings of work.

Miami's offense will face off against Shaun Marcum. Marcum spent a good portion of the year on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, and has only made 15 starts on the season. Marcum brings a 5-4 record into the game, with a 3.35 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
