The USF Bulls' men's soccer team saw their season come to a close on Sunday after falling 1-0 to the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes in the NCAA Tournament with a Sweet 16 berth on the line.
Tulsa's lone goal came on Omar Mata's free kick from just outside the penalty box with 1:15 left in the first overtime. USF goalie Dallas Jaye had a long shutout streak going before giving up Mata's game-winner.
USF had several great chances to score, but the Bulls were not able to convert. Wesley Charpie had a shot bounce off the post and Sebastian Thuriere was stymied on a one-on-one opportunity.
USF was ranked as highly as No. 2 earlier in the season, but a string of injuries made the Bulls' year a trying one. The Bulls won just one of their final Big East matches and missed the conference tournament. They finished the year with a record of 8-6-5.
