Florida senior nose tackle Omar Hunter earned the SEC defensive lineman of the week award for his work against Kentucky last Saturday in a 38-0 win. Hunter led the Gators in tackles with eight, including three solo, which also marked a career high (his previous best was six tackles against Arkansas in 2009). Hunter anchored a defensive line that kept Kentucky scrambling in the passing game. The Wildcats managed only 60 total yards passing.
Florida had a dominant day defensively, shutting out a SEC opponent for the first time in 11 years. The Gators have now beaten UK 26 consecutive times, the longest active streak between two conference opponents in the nation. Hunter's award is the third-consecutive weekly SEC award for UF. Caleb Sturgis and Jeff Driskel have also won awards in the previous two weeks.
