The Lingerie Football League is a niche sport that has been around for more years than most had expected it would be. The league now sports 12 teams, one of which was headquartered in Tampa Bay, FL and played in the St. Pete Times Forum.
According to a press release issued by the LFL, officials have agreed to terms with Veterans Memorial Arena to move the Tampa Breeze franchise to Jacksonville, where the team will retain the same name and be known as the Jacksonville Breeze. The reason for the move, according to the press release, was sparked by the St. Pete Times Forum, who now owns the Arena Football League Tampa Storm, and did not want to compete with the LFL for tickets now that the two leagues schedules coincide.
"This is an exciting moment for us here at Veterans Memorial Arena as we become part of one of the most exciting LIVE sports that is aggressively building momentum. We welcome the opportunity to kickoff the Jacksonville Breeze franchise", said Larry Wilson, the General Manager of Veterans Memorial Arena in a press release.
