Wow. If you’re a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, you likely can’t contain the giddy, joyous feeling you’ve been experiencing for the past 24 hours. If you’re a Cincinnati Bengals fan, you may still be scratching your head and wondering how in God’s name the Bengals let Sunday’s game get away from them.
After being forced to punt it away with about 3:30 remaining in the fourth quarter , it appeared as if the Buccaneers would lose to level their record at 2-2. The Bucs had played fairly well – much better than they had the last time out against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But neither the offense, defense, nor special teams had made the one or two big plays necessary to steal a precious road victory from a Bengals’ squad that controlled much of the second half behind the steady and bruising rushing of Cedric Benson.
That’s why they play 60 minutes though. It’s not over until the final second has ticked off the clock. And in the waning minutes of the Buccaneers’ 24-21 victory, the Buccaneers made all the plays – on both sides of the ball – to overcome a late deficit and improve to 3-1.
