No team suffered a bigger margin of defeat than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in last week's NFL action, dropping to the San Francisco 49ers by an embarrassing 48-3 final score. As such, FOX analyst and former NFL coach Brian Billick dropped the Bucs five spots in his latest power rankings--the biggest drop of any team--to no. 13 overall.
"Losing by 45 to a team that was averaging only 23 points over the first four weeks is a major concern," Billick says, entering the race for Biggest Understatement of the Year, "and it doesn't get any easier with New Orleans on the docket two out of the next three games."
The 4-1 New Orleans Saints lead the 3-2 Bucs for the NFC South lead, so those forthcoming contests have huge implications on the division race. The first meeting, at Raymond James Stadium, is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 16. The Bucs then host the Chicago Bears the following week, and then enjoy a bye on Oct. 30, before traveling to the Superdome for their second matchup with New Orleans.
