Plenty of pundits and fans have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers upgrading along the defensive line in the bevy of mock drafts that have been published in recent weeks. Purdue’s Ryan Kerrigan and Cameron Jordan from Cal have been mentioned regularly as potential first round picks for Tampa Bay. As has Missouri’s Aldon Smith, who Don Banks of SI.com pegged as the Bucs pick at No. 21 in his latest mock draft.
Here’s what Banks had to say about the possibility:
The Bucs are in luck and see one of the draft’s premier pass-rushing prospects make it all the way to their No. 20 slot. Smith is a little raw and might have to start his NFL career as a situational rusher, but anybody who can help turn up the heat in Tampa Bay is the right pick this year for Raheem Morris’s improving team.
If Smith is an unfamiliar name to you, read this scouting report about him on Mocking The Draft.
