Raheem Morris Hired By Redskins To Coach Defensive Secondary

It didn't take long for Raheem Morris to land on his feet after being fired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a few weeks ago. He has been hired by the Washington Redskins to help coach their defensive secondary, a position he has plenty of experience with. Here is what Morris had to say about joining the Redskins organization, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

"They were the first ones to approach me,'' Morris said of the Redskins. "They talked about giving me time to give them an answer but I didn't want to screw up a good thing with a great organization. They were patient, they waited and gave me time to go through the process. But I've been a head coach and I know how tough it is when you feel like you're getting the run around and I wanted to be fair to everybody in Washington.''

It is interesting though that Morris will be able to void his contract if he is offered a defensive coordinator spot in the NFL next season, so this is a good deal for both sides. Morris gets a chance to build his reputation back up and get back on his feet, without the limitation of being stuck at a job he might feel he is overqualified for; and the Redskins get an experienced NFL head coach to add to their staff.
