Buccaneers Coaching Search: Wade Phillips Cancels Interview With Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers seemed set to bring in Houston Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips in for an interview to be their next head coach, but a funny thing happened on the way to the forum. Our Bucs Nation is now reporting that Phillips has canceled his interview with the Bucs and will not be pursuing the position. They also recap where the search goes from here.

With Wade Phillips out of the picture in Tampa Bay, the coaching search continues. Marty Schottenheimer, Mike Sherman, Jerry Gray and Brad Childress have all interviewed for the position, while the Bucs are rumored to be interested in Cincinnati Defensive Coordinator Mike Zimmer. It should not be a surprise if more candidates are added to this list, however, as the Bucs managed to keep Phillips' candidacy secret for at least a week.
