Buccaneers Coaching Search: Tampa Bay Interested In Jim Tressel, According To Report

The Buccaneers have only been without a coach for a day now, but the rumors are starting to fly in, and some of the names that are being mentioned are a bit surprising. The most recent, and keep in mind these are just preliminary reports, is former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel. Here is some initial reaction to that bit of news from Bucs Nation.

Despite his massive success as a head coach in college, I am not a fan of Jim Tressel. I am mostly not a fan of him because of what he did at the end of his tenure. Essentially blackmailing your players to keep them on the team - that does not sit well with me.

Tressel would certainly be a big name, and he would bring a lot of buzz with him, but he might not be the best hire that the Bucs can make, He is extremely proven as a college coach, but the NFL is a whole different ballgame, and it would be a big risk to bring him in.

Stay tuned to SB Nation Tampa Bay and our sister site, Bucsnation.com for the latest developments on the Bucs coaching search.
