Buccaneers Coaching Search: Tampa Bay Will Interview Texans Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips

According to reports, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with interview Houston Texans' defensive coordinator Wade Phillips this coming Friday. The Houston Chronicle's John McClain reported that the Texans had granted permission to the Bucs to conduct the interview.

Phillips has plenty of head coaching experience and has reiterated that he wanted another chance to be a head coach. He has an 82-59 record as a head coach, with previous stops as an interim coach in Denver and New Orleans, and as the full-time head coach in Denver, Buffalo, and most recently in Dallas. Bum Phillips's son has had mixed results as the head man, but always had great success as a defensive coordinator. That's again the case in Houston, as he has turned one of the league's worst defenses into one of the top-ranked units this season. Phillips said that he was excited about the opportunity.

Via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle:

"I'm gratified somebody noticed. I don't want to leave Houston but I want to be a head coach."
