When Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams notices man coverage, he instantly thinks touchdown.
Williams told the Tampa Bay Times:
"Six (points)," Williams said. "That’s what goes through my mind. When I see man coverage, I think about touchdown. Not even just a catch. That’s like disrespectful. That’s how I look at man coverage. If you’re going to play man coverage, I think it’s disrespectful."
Williams caught four passes for 113 yards including a 62-yard touchdown pass from Josh Freeman to initially put the Buccaneers ahead 7-0 over the Kansas City Chiefs. Tampa Bay defeated the Chiefs, 38-10, to improve to 2-3 on the season.
Despite being disrespected, Williams believes he's getting single coverage because of the addition of wide receiver Vincent Jackson who is drawing double teams on the other side of the field. Williams has caught 15 balls for 332 yards and three touchdowns this season while holding a 22.1 yards-per-catch average.
