Buccaneers vs. Saints predictions: Struggling Bucs road underdogs in New Orleans

New, 2 comments

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers need a win in New Orleans to keep their fading playoff hopes alive. However, most national experts see the Saints coming out on top Sunday.

Three weeks ago, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked to be well positioned for one of the two NFC wild card spots. Three losses in a row later, the 6-7 Bucs are on the outside of the playoffs looking in. A loss to the New Orleans Saints this Sunday would all but eliminate Tampa from the postseason, which is just what the majority of national experts see happening.

Of the 14 experts on ESPN's panel, only Adam Schefter sees Tampa going in to New Orleans and leaving with a victory. The Saints, at 5-8, aren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, but would have to hope for every team in front of them to lose out to sneak in the back door.

Dave Richard and Will Brinson are the two writers at CBS Sports who think the Bucs will pull off the upset in the Crescent City, while Yahoo! Sports' Mike Silver is also going against the grain and picking a Tampa victory.

Kickoff from the Superdome is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
