I only get back to Tampa one week a year. Even though I follow all four local teams very closely, I absolutely refuse to turn on sports radio when I'm back home. The worst of it seems to be collected on one station. (You know which one.) It's pandering, ignorant trash, designed to insult your intelligence and get you so angry that you keep listening to see what ridiculous thing they'll say next. You can try calling in to argue, but odds are you'll get rudely hung up on and taunted by the host. And that's when the shows are good.
↵When they're bad, you get stuff like this from Dan Sileo:
↵Sileo: "They're gonna spend all that money."↵↵Co-host: "And Dan'll be like, 'well, they're not really that good.'"
↵Sileo: "No! No! If they get those three monkeys, I'm good! I'm ready, man. I'm ready. I want those guys. Those guys are great players."
↵
Good one, Dan.
↵People of Tampa Bay: If you really want better sports talk radio (and I'm pretty sure you do), STOP LISTENING TO THIS GARBAGE. They don't care if you like it or hate it, as long as you have that radio dial tuned in to give them good ratings. There are two other sports radio stations in town that do much better work. Change the station, change the culture.
