2012 NFL Free Agency: Buccaneers Sign Former Saints Guard Carl Nicks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the most cap space in the NFL entering Free Agency, and they seem intent on using up every single bit of it. After signing Vincent Jackson to a big contract on Tuesday, they signed the best offensive lineman on the market in Carl Nicks early on Wednesday.

The benefit of this signing is two-fold: First, they pick up the best guard in football to help solidify their offensive line. And secondly, they help make a division opponent a little bit weaker by taking away one of their best players. This is a very good (if expensive) move for the Buccaneers, and along with Vincent Jackson, should lead to an improved offense.
