With the NFL Draft now a little more than a week away, Sports Illustrated's Peter King has released his latest mock draft. King not only predicts who he thinks a team will pick in the draft, but he also explains who he thinks the team should pick.
For the Jacksonville Jaguars, King predicts that they will select South Carolina Gamecocks cornerback Stephon Gilmore, but should select Stanford Cardinal guard David DeCastro with the No. 7 overall draft pick.
Like Tampa, Jacksonville has a major hole at cornerback, and I hear the Jags like Gilmore a ton, which would have to be the case for them to reach for him here. Still, I'd solve a position of need for the next 10 years with the second-best offensive lineman in the draft-and a guy with the mean streak Jacksonville's O-line needs-then take the corner in round 2.
The Jaguars have needs at both positions, so a decision to pick either player can only help the team out. However, the idea of selecting someone that could help with the pass rush is an idea that should not be ignored, especially if North Carolina defensive lineman Quinton Coples is available at this pick.
