With just three days before the NFL Draft's first round gets underway in New York, many mock draft experts are trying to project where quarterback Ryan Tannehill will land on Thursday night. Tannehill's stock has fluctuated dramatically over the past month, when he dazzled scouts with a workout in College Station. Plenty of projections have the Dolphins selecting Tannehill at No. 8, but could the new offensive regime, in fact, be pushing for help on the other side of the ball? Will Brinson, a CBSSports.com blogger, predicts the that the Dolphins will take defensive end Quinton Coples out of North Carolina:
With its move to a 4-3 defense, Miami needs another bookend rusher to go along with Cameron Wake. Coples is precisely that, even if there are concerns about his productivity. Miami's just going to have to trust Joe Philbin can make the offense click with no big additions.
Coples would certainly be a solid addition on the defensive front, pairing with Cameron Wake to bookend the pass rush. It's interesting to note, of course, that Brinson has Seattle and Pete Carroll trading up one spot ahead of Phoenix to take Tannehill at No. 7, where the Jacksonville Jaguars are currently slotted.
