NFL Draft Results 2012: Buccaneers Draft Running Back Michael Smith In Round 7

With the No. 212 pick overall, and 5th in Round 7, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Michael Smith, a running back from Utah State. Smith is the second running back selected by the Bucs, who chose Boise State running back Doug Martin way back in the Round 2. He's an odd prospect, possessing great speed and talent but he struggled to get a ton of reps on his own team, which played in the mid-major WAC. He's a superior athlete, however, who can blow through the holes with great burst.

After selecting two straight West Virginia players on the defensive side of the ball, Schiano and company went back to the offensive side of the ball with another skill position player. The Buccaneers have one more selection in the 7th round, pick No. 233 overall that they received from the Houston Texans.
