Preston Parker, Buccaneers Agree To One-Year Extension

Wide receiver Preston Parker emerged as a solid offensive contributor at wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season with 40 receptions for 554 yards and three touchdowns. He also showed the ability to be productive returning kickoffs and punts. On Tuesday, the Bucs and Parker agreed to a one-year contract extension according to a report by Brian McIntyre of NFL.com.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed wide receiver Preston Parker to a one-year contract extension earlier this month, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed Tuesday.

Parker was due to earn $540,000 in non-guaranteed base salary as an exclusive rights free agent this season. As part of the extension, Parker received a $50,000 signing bonus (the only portion of the contract that is guaranteed) and is scheduled to earn $1 million in base salary in 2013.

Parker was originally signed by the Bucs as an undrafted free agent out of North Alabama, transferring to the school after some off the field issues at Florida State.
