Doug Martin Wins Bucs Starting RB Job

Doug Martin appears to have won the starting running back position from incumbent LeGarrette Blount. Head coach Greg Schiano has compared Martin to his former player at Rutgers, Ray Rice. With a new head coach, changes were bound to come for the Bucs. Schiano has been impressed with Martin's every down ability and his most recent preseason performance outdid Blount's.

"That's why he moved in and started the game; because he has shown me that much," Schiano said of Martin, via the Tampa Bay Times. "And I don't think he did anything (Friday) night that would say, 'Oh, that wasn't a good move.' I thought he ran the ball well and did some things well. So right now, he's got to continue on that course. He's learning every day. And he's a very open-minded guy. He wants to learn."
