Buccaneers Training Camp: Tampa Releases TE Chase Coffman, Signs LS Andrew DePaola

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived tight end Chase Coffman on Monday morning, reports Adam Caplan. Replacing Coffman's spot on the roster is Andrew DePaola, a long snapper.

Coffman was a third-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2009 NFL Draft. He suffered broken foot during his senior year at the University of Missouri and has never been able to recapture the form he had in college that made him one of the top tight ends in the country for a time.

Tampa Bay took a flyer on him in February after the Bengals declined a futures contract for him.

DePaola was a walk on at Rutgers in 2005 who also spent some time at wide receiver and quarterback. Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano has made former Scarlet Knights a priority during the offseason.
