The NHL has officially cancelled the remainder of the preseason because of the lockout, according to Damian Cristodero of The Tampa Bay Times. The league had previously cancelled all preseason games through September.
This cancels three Lightning preseason games against the Florida Panthers scheduled originally for Oct. 2 in Estero, Oct. 4 at Tampa Bay Times Forum and on Oct. 6 in Sunrise.
The good news is that the NHL and the players union are set to resume talks on the collective bargaining agreement on Friday. Right now though its unknown if these talks will be aimed at ending the lockout. Tampa Bay Lightning fans that want to look at their options for refunding their tickets can go to tampabaylightning.com/STM for their options.
The Lightning are still scheduled to open their season on Saturday, Oct. 13 on the road against the Florida Panthers at 7:30 p.m. ET while their home opener is still scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16 against the New York Islanders also at 7:30 p.m. ET.
