Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) – Steven Stamkos notched a hat trick and added an assist as the Tamp Bay Lightning downed the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-2, at Philips Arena.
Vincent Lecavalier had a goal and an assist while Brett Clark also lit the lamp for the Lightning, who were coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Islanders on Thursday. Mike Smith made 28 saves in the win.
Dustin Byfuglien had a goal and an assist and Jim Slater also scored for the Thrashers, who have dropped their past two games. Chris Mason allowed three goals on 16 shots and was pulled after the first period. Peter Mannino stopped 15-of-16 shots the rest of the way.
