From an official team press release:
The Tampa Bay Lightning, in conjunction with community partner Metropolitan Ministries, have once again teamed up for a non-perishable food drive to be held before their next two home games on November 9 versus the Toronto Maple Leafs and November 14 against the Minnesota Wild. Metropolitan Ministries staff and volunteers as well as Lightning player wives and girlfriends will be collecting non-perishable food items on the west plaza prior to the game.
Metropolitan Ministries provides faithful answers for poor and homeless families living in our community through services that alleviate suffering, promote dignity and instill self-sufficiency as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Ministries, a faith-based and community-supported non-profit 501 © 3 organization, is funded through the charitable support of the community, including individuals, businesses, congregations, schools, foundations and civic groups.
The Ministry projects needs will increase during Thanksgiving and through unfortunate times with so many in need. Cereal, canned fruit and grocery gift cards are some of the most needed items at this time.
