I'll admit it: when the Tampa Bay Lightning fell behind three games to one against the Pittsburgh Penguins, I despaired. The Penguins were the higher seeded team, had momentum on their side, and had home-ice advantage in the remaining games. The Lightning looked dead on the ice more often than not and...well, it was all too easy to let hope falter. I know - I'm a horrible fan.
↵But then something crazy happened: the Bolts caught fire. They scored eight goals against the Penguins in Game 5, and then beat them 4-2 in Game 6 to tie up the series at three game apiece. Game 7 was a raucous ride Wednesday night, going up and down and all over the place, but the Bolts pulled it out and won 1-0.
↵Or as I like to think of it, the Bolts laid a giant smackdown on the Penguins, laying on the finishing blow in Pittsburgh and throwing salt in the wound for good measure. This picture of Dominic Moore and Kris Letang says it all:
