Pretty cool news coming out of the NHL Awards in Las Vegas last night for Bolts and video game fans; Tampa Bay Lightning star center Steven Stamkos has been named as the EA Sports NHL '12 cover boy. Electronic Arts made the announcement Wednesday night at the NHL's annual awards show, making the 21-year old Stamkos the new face of their video game franchise.

↵ ↵Stamkos told the media at the awards that it was a "pretty cool honor."
↵It's just something I've grown up playing my whole life. And to be on the cover is a pretty cool honour. ... You dream as a kid (of) playing in the NHL and now you're on the cover of the most popular NHL sports game out there. It's definitely icing on the cake, it's something I could never have imagined.↵
Stamkos joins Bolts captain Vincent Lecavalier as the only two cover-boys in franchise history. Vinny was the face of the 2006 edition of the game, following his 50 goal campaign. EA Sports NHL 12 will be in stores September 13th.
