I've never been entirely sure what to make of the Tampa Bay Lightning's mascot. As it's a bit difficult to have a bolt of lightning as a mascot, the Lightning instead opted to have a "lightning bug" be their mascot. His name is "Thunderbug", and he seems to have an unnerving predilection toward attacking people.
Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. But still, the Thunderbug's most recent stunt pushed the envelope farther than most mascots do.
The "incident" happened during Tuesday night's game between the Lightning and Boston Bruins. The Thunderbug sprayed a Bruin fan with silly string, causing said fan to get enraged and come at the mascot. After pushing him to the ground, the Bruins fan was escorted out of the stadium...while the Thunderbug mocked him and waved after him. Gutsy? Ridiculous? Kinda hilarious? Yeah, that's all of the above.
Video below the jump.
I'm not sure whether to think the Thunderbug is a jerk, or the best mascot ever. Considering it was a Boston fan, I'm leaning toward "Best Ever!"
