Lightning Leads Blue Jackets 3-1 After Two

The Lightning had a better effort in the second period, generating much more quality shots on Sanford and scoring twice.

The first goal came on the power play. Yes that’s right. Tampa Bay finally scored on the man-advantage when Vincent Lecavalier tipped in a shot from Bruno Gervais at 8:19. Lecavalier extended his scoring streak to six games with the goal.

Tampa Bay played well defensively in the period, holding Columbus to only six shots on goal. The Lightning primarily played in the offensive zone, dominating puck possession for most of the period and not allowing the Blue Jackets the chance to test Garon.

At 16:56, Tampa Bay extended its lead to two when St. Louis intercepted an impressive pass from Lecavalier.
