Lightning Trade Blair Jones To Calgary For Brendan Mikkelson

The Lightning have acquired defenseman Brendan Mikkelson from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forward Blair Jones, Vice President and General Manager Steve Yzerman announced today. Mikkelson will join the Lightning immediately.

According to nhl.com:

Mikkelson, 6-foot-3, 206 pounds, has played in 86 career NHL games with the Flames and the Anaheim Ducks, recording six assists and 40 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut during the 2008-09 season and played in a career-high 34 games with Anaheim. Mikkelson played in his first NHL game on January 2, 2009 against Philadelphia.

Mikkelson was drafted by Anaheim in 2005 and was picked up on waivers by Calgary in October 2010. He will wear No. 29.

Blair Jones was also drafted in 2005, but had played his career with the Lightning thus far. He made his debut in 2006 and has played 78 NHL games, including 22 with the Bolts this season scoring 2 goals and 2 assists. He also took to the ice in seven games during last year's playoffs, scoring no points in approximately 45 minutes of play.
