Lightning Vs. Capitals Preview: Tampa Bay Hosts Washington Saturday

The Tampa Bay Lightning look to continue their recent success over Southeast Division foe, the Washington Capitals, Saturday night (7 p.m. ET on SUN).

The Tampa Bay Lightning are hoping to keep momentum rolling Saturday, as they host the Washington Capitals in a East Conference Southeast Division contest at the Tampa Bay Times Forum (7 p.m. ET on SUN). The Lightning (25-26-6) are coming off a 6-5 overtime victory over the San Jose Sharks Thursday, while the Capitals (29-23-5) rallied from a one-goal, third-period deficit Friday to down the Florida Panthers, 2-1.

On Thursday, the Lighting were outshot 50-25, but still managed to edge the Sharks in overtime, as Martin St. Louis' scored the game-winner, his second of the night.

Steven Stamkos enters the contest with a league-leading 39 goals including a pair against San Jose.

Meanwhile, the Capitals are playing their second of a four-game road trip and will try to even the season series between these Southeast Division foes to two games apiece. On Jan. 31, the host Lightning beat the Capitals, 4-3, in overtime to take a 2-1 season-series advantage. The two teams will play six games against each other this year.

Superstar Alex Ovechkin enters the games tallying four goals and six points in his last five games, while Alexander Semin has collected three goals and three assists in the same span.
