Tampa Bay Lightning Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs Preview: Lightning And Stamkos Looking To Stay In Playoff Hunt

Can the Lightning continue their run to the playoffs against a swooning Toronto Maple Leafs team?

Presswire

Time is starting to run out on the Tampa Bay Lightning's chances to make the playoffs this season, being seven points behind the eighth place Washington Capitals in the Eastern Conference. They do have a prolific goal scorer in Steven Stamkos whom on Wednesday became the sixth player in NHL history to score 50 goals in two seasons before turning 23 years old. However, just Stamkos alone will not be enough to get the Lightning into the playoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs enter this game on a soon, going 1-8-1 in their last 10 games, dropping to twelfth in the conference. In that, their offensive output has been tepid, only scoring 2.1 goals per game the last 17 games, where the Leafs are 2-13-2. However they have won both games against the Lightning this season so there is recent history on their side.

The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start with television coverage being provided by Sunshine Network.
