The Tampa Bay Lightning stand nine points back of eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings entering their game with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. If the Lightning are going to try and make a run at the postseason they have to first deal with an Oilers team that has gone 3-0-1 in their last four games including a 6-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on Tuesday.
Tampa Bay's leading scorer Steven Stamkos has been held pointless for the last three games which has coincided with a losing streak of the same length. To make make matters worse, the Lightning are in a 1-5-1 funk in the last seven games. Injuries have been a big part of of that slide with Vincent Lecavalier and goaltender Mathieu Garon sidelined with injuries.
The game is scheduled for a start at 7:30 p.m. at Tampa Bay Times Forum with television coverage being provided by Sunshine Sports Network.
