The Tampa Bay Lightning were hoping to get a little bit of a win streak going against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday evening, even though both teams are eliminated from the playoffs. That idea turned south quickly however, as the Canadiens picked up a goal from Alexei Emelin to take the early lead. The Lightning quickly answered, as Vincent Lecavalier scored an unassisted goal to tie the game.
In the second period, the Canadiens began to pull away from Tampa Bay as Erik Cole picked up two goals to push their lead to 3-1. Bruno Gervais scored a goal for the Lightning in the third period to pull back within a single goal, but the Canadiens weren't done scoring as Max Pacioretty picked up two goals to close out the game to the score of 5-2.
