2010 SEASON SERIES: Tampa Bay won, 4-2.
The Texas Rangers are back into the postseason for the first time since 1999 and once again it is an American League East team standing in their way. The Rangers begin their first postseason series in 11 years on Wednesday at Tropicana Field with an American League Division Series matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Texas, which captured its first American League West crown since 1999, is making only its fourth playoff appearance, but this will be the first time that the Rangers will be facing a team other than the New York Yankees.
And that is a good thing too, as the Rangers lost nine of their 10 previous postseason games to the Bronx Bombers.
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, is in the postseason for the second time in team history.
The Rays won four of their six regular season meetings with the Rangers this year, but both losses came in Arlington, where the team has won just twice in their last nine visits.
