Mariners Topple Rays 6-2, Avoid Sweep

St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - Josh Wilson hit a three-run homer as Seattle avoided a sweep by downing Tampa Bay, 6-2, in the finale of a three- game set from Tropicana Field.

Jose Lopez drove in a pair and Matt Mangini knocked in a run and scored once for the Mariners, who halted a three-game skid.

Luke French (5-6) allowed eight hits and two runs over five-plus innings for the win.

Desmond Jennings and B.J. Upton drove in a run each for the Rays, who still hold a one-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East, with New York and Boston playing later Sunday.

James Shields (13-14) was charged in the loss for eight hits and five runs over six full frames.
