Former Rays Pitcher Scott Kazmir Pitching In Dominican Winter League Wednesday Night

Remember Scott Kazmir? Well, he's pitching tonight, Wednesday night, for the Escogido Lions in the Dominican Winter League (hat tip @Enrique_Rojas1).

Here's an interview with Kaz before his start (half in Spanish, half in English):

Once called "Kid K," Kazmir was for a long time the only bright spot in an otherwise bleak Tampa Bay Rays (then Devil Rays) pitching staff.

There were four years, 2005 through 2008, where Scott produced genuinely solid results and was easily the ace of the staff. A first round draft pick for the New York Mets in 2002, Kazmir fell apart somewhere between 2008 and 2009. Keenly sensing the young pitchers' depreciation, the Rays traded Kaz — who had become "BB Boy" at that time — to the Los Angeles Angels for Sean Rodriguez, Alex Torres, and Matt Sweeney.

Kazmir will only be 28 next year and thereby should have enough time to mount a legitimate comeback attempt.

Here's hoping for the best tonight!
