Opening Lineups, And An Early White Sox Lead

Johnny Damon is back in the lineup, which is great to see.

#Rays lineup: Fuld lf, Damon dh, Joyce rf, Lopez 3b, Zobrist 2b, Upton cf, Kotchman 1b, Jaso c, Brignac ss, Niemann p

Per Marc Topkin of the Saint Petersburg Times

White Sox lineup features Juan Pierre LF, Omar Visquel 2b, Carlos Quentin RF, Paul Konerko 1B, Adam Dunn DH, Alex Rios CF, A.J. Pierzynski C, Alexei Ramirez SS, and Mark Teahen 3B.

Unfortunately there’s also a score to update you on. After a bunt single, and 2 free bases on a throwing error from Felipe Lopez, the White Sox leadoff man Juan Pierre was standing on third base. A groundout from Omar Visquel (the last active MLB player to play in the 1980’s) drove Pierre in.

The Rays went up and down in their half of the first, so it’s 1-0 White Sox as Jeff Niemann gets ready to come back out for the top of the second inning.
