This is too awesome:
↵↵↵"People congratulate me and say how wonderful this is," Joyce said Monday, sitting in a ballroom of a luxury hotel. "And I think, 'If only they knew how far I've come and what I had to go through to get here.'
↵"If they knew, they'd realize how much I really do appreciate it."
↵
There have been plenty of stories written about Joyce this season, but I recommend giving this one (written by John Romano, St. Pete Times) a look. It sheds a different perspective on Joyce's past than I'd seen before.
↵If you can't tell from the story, it's become increasingly evident to people at the All-Star game that Joyce is having the time of his life. If you see him on camera tonight, check out the giant smile plastered on his fact. Apparently it's so special to him, he's even having his picture taken with Dan Plesac:
↵↵It's time like these when you realize that even though there are plenty of things to complain about regarding the All-Star Game, it means a great deal to the players themselves. This is why I care about which players make it to the All-Star Game; I want the players that have performed well to feel like they are appreciated. We all love being recognized for our hard work, right?
