Reason #4,295 Why James Shields Will Remain A Tampa Bay Ray

From Marc Topkin, St. Pete Times:

#Rays Maddon says (as he told XM/Sirius also) he's discussed 64-66 trade scenarios w/Friedman + NONE involved Shields

I said it this morning and I'll say it again: James Shields isn't going anywhere. The Rays would have to get a veritable bounty of prospects and players back for him, and there doesn't seem to be any team out there willing to pay even close to his fair market value.

The B.J. Upton rumors? Now that's something else; Upton's days in Tampa Bay are numbered, sadly. But Rays fans can get used to the idea of James Shields sticking around for a while longer.
