After their collective All-Star appearances in 2011, the Tampa Bay Rays trio of James Shields, David Price and Matt Joyce are slated to become pirates — not Pittsburgh Pirates, of course, but Tampa pirates.
↵According to the Tampa Bay Times, the three Rays stars will be serving as the Grand Marshals for the 2012 Gasparilla Parade of the Pirates. Which, for those not familiar with the Tampa Bay area parade, is something in between a scene from a New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration and the pirate-themed protest in the first episode of the TV show Arrested Development.
