SP James Shields did struggle much through the first five innings, but the Chicago White Sox managed to string together 1 walk, 4 singles and 1 double -- which was more of a single that SS Alexei Ramirez stretched into a double -- to put 5 runs on the board in the sixth inning.
Shields ends his day striking out 8 batters, walking only 1, but incredulously allowing 6 runs despite the effort. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Rays offense has gone silent against SP Philip Humber. After LF Hideki Matsui clobbered a 2-run homer in the 4th, the Rays have managed only two singles.
The Rays currently trail 6-2 into the top of the 7th inning.
