Rays Vs. White Sox: Tampa Looks To Avoid A Sweep

The Chicago White Sox are one game away from a sweep over the ailing Tampa Bay Rays. Hideki Matsui joined the Rays on Tuesday, popping a home run in his season debut, but it was not enough to give the Rays some much needed offense with Evan Longoria and Desmond Jennings on the shelf.

The veteran Matsui and the Rays will square off against White Sox rookie Jose Quintana. The left-hander is 1-0 with a 1.54 ERA in two starts. He has walked five and struck out seven in 12 innings of work, which could bode well for the Rays.

Tampa has Alex Cobb on the mound, who has just two starts himself, both wins. Cobb is in the rotation in place of an injured Jeff Niemann. He has six walks and eight strike outs in 12 innings, and this will be his first matchup against Chicago.

Despite the two losses, Tampa Bay is still tied with Baltimore for first place in the AL East.

The game starts at 1:10 p.m. from Tropicana Field. Fans can watch the game on Sun Sports.
