Nine innings have come and gone at Tropicana Field. That hasn't been enough. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Oakland Athletics are tied 3-3 and are headed to extra innings.
Tampa Bay had previously been trailing by one run, but in the fifth inning, Carlos Pena went deep to right field, knotting the score at three apiece. But since, neither team has been able to bring a run in. The Rays did have a chance in the bottom of the ninth inning. Pinch hitting for Jose Molina, Jeff Keppinger singled to shallow left center, then advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt and to third on a sacrifice third. B.J. Upton was unable to score him from third and flied out to center field to end the inning.
