The Tampa Bay Rays handed the Washington Nationals their fourth loss in a row on Tuesday evening as the Rays jumped on Chien-Ming Wang early. B.J. Upton picked up an RBI single in the first inning, but it was in the third inning when the Rays really put on the hurt.
Carolos Pena hit a two-run home run to center, giving the Rays a 3-2 lead. Shortly after Pena's home run, Elliot Johnson hit a base clearing triple knocking in Ben Zobrist and Jose Lobaton in a four run inning. Wang lasted just 3.1 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.
The Nats made a push in the fifth inning when Michael Morse hit a two-run home run to bring Washington within a run of the Rays, but Tampa Bay was able to hold on for the win.
