Rays Vs. Rangers Game Preview, TV Info And More

Tampa begins a huge three-game series with the team that has knocked them out of the playoffs the last two seasons.

Presswire

The Tampa Bay Rays have lost to the Texas Rangers in the ALDS in each of the last two years. On Monday, they open up a huge three-game series with the two-time defending AL champions that may end up being a preview of yet another playoff series in 2012.

Tampa is currently in first place in the AL wild card race a 70-57, but the Detroit, Baltimore and Oakland are all breathing down their necks at 69 wins.

That makes their series in Arlington with the AL-West leading Rangers all the more important, as Tampa can ill afford to drop many games in the standings at this point in the season.

The Rays will send their ace David Price to the mound on Monday, where he'll match up with Derek Holland, a Texas lefthander almost as talented who isn't nearly as consistent.

The 8:05 PM game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Tampa-area fans can listen to the game on 620 AM.
