Rays Vs. Blue Jays Final Score: Rays Shutout In Opener Against Toronto, Lose 2-0

Four Toronto Blue Jays pitchers combined to blank the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday night, winning 2-0 in the first game of an integral four-game set for the Rays.

Rays starter Matt Moore was the hard-luck loser, going six strong innings against the Blue Jays with seven strikeouts against three walks and six hits. Blue Jays catcher Kelly Johnson's double in the first inning drove in the game's only two runs.

The Rays bullpen combined for three innings of shutout baseball, giving up just one hit over their three innings of work.

The Rays were only able to muster five hits against the Blue Jays, who were anchored by starter Carlos Villanueva, who went six strong. The Blue Jays bullpen held the Rays scoreless in the final three innings to secure the victory.

The two teams square off again Friday at 7:07 p.m. ET as Jeremy Hellickson takes the mound for the Rays and Brandon Morrow starts for the Blue Jays.
